A foundation teaching/God's agenda
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
I'm suppose we should ask the question of ourselves : what does God's agenda for our lives look like? And if we hence the question we almost assuredly must go back to the life of Christ to find an example of what God considers our lives should be like.
The fact is that Jesus Christ invested in the lives of those around him, so who do I invest my life in when it comes to the development of the church? It is that kind of investment that gun begins to look for in our lives when he calls us to a deeper and closer walk in his spirit. If we say we are frightened to get too close to someone then perhaps the first step is to begin to pray for them. The word of God tells us to pray for workers the harvest field, not just the ministers of churches, people who can be developed into leaders in our churches. In order to develop such leaders we first of all need to develop the character of the people we are working with. There are three areas to investigate when doing this:CHARACTER, FORMATION, and DESIRE.
Not everybody is born with a good character... Sometimes it has to be developed over time. It takes a wide variety of experiences to form a character in someone before they can be willing to give of themselves to another person. This formation of character is developed through their contact with the right people. Their character is designed through prayer, and through the development of God's Spirit within their lives. As God develops in a man there also begins to develop a desire to share that life with someone else. We can see all we want to about spiritual gifts, but spiritual gifts do nothing for us unless we can see those gifts and work in someone else's life.
There are very few of us who have had a lifelong character that would dictate us being in a leadership role within the church. Many of the men whom were chosen by Christ probably would not have passed a decent background check before they came to a serious decision about God being at work in their lives. Jesus himself did not approach these men on a very spiritual basis, he said simply "come and follow me, and I will make you fishers of men". Perhaps it is time then we begin to ask questions of ourselves by peeling away the layers then we have been hiding behind. Many of our lives have so many layers like that of an onion. We have to deal with false beliefs that separate us from other people, and that ultimately separate us from God. We must be open and honest with people about what our intentions are from the beginning. There are many people today that need to have what we do spelled out to them in a very simple way. We cannot judge or try to change people because that is God's job, and it is sometimes a long process. If we are going to be successful in Christ we must first of all be real in Christ, and we must allow people to see the real person we are. Make a friend, be a friend, love and care for someone when you see a need to fill it... When you see an opportunity take it. You may see an open nerve, or an open window that someone is ready to spiritually jump from so don't deal with the wrong question. Point them in the direction of someone who you know can help, point them to Jesus Christ. May you richly bless God through your life in him.
