THE SOFT GOSPEL

I send you greetings in the name of Jesus:

By itself religion has probably caused more wars than anything else in history. It is true that we as mankind have used the concept of "God being with us" to perpetuate some of the most horrible atrocities against one another. The religious war that has raged between Christian and Islam is not new, and the mindset that allows us to war against one another is not from God's Holy Spirit, but is from our own interpretation of religion.

Jesus was recorded in John 16: 2-3 that there will be some who, in error, commit atrocities and murder in the name of God: the time is coming that whosoever killed you will think that he does God service. However, Jesus informs us that these are not true believers, and the things that they will do to you, because they have not known the father nor Christ will be horrible to behold.(1 John 3:15 ).

There is a soft gospel being taught today in our churches about the "love of Jesus"that tends to refuse to preach the gospel of love completely that is revealed through the blood shed by Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary. I just attended a Catholic service that was done for a friend of mine who died not knowing Jesus Christ as his Lord. What we heard was about Jesus coming to die for the sins of the world, and about how being baptized places us into Christ, and that they look forward to the resurrection to a new life in Christ upon Christ's return. Those who were in attendance for the most part were outside of Christ as well, but they had itching ears to hear pleasant words about someone's life who this official of the church had never met or had ever known in life. These people were more than pleased to have their ears scratched with a soft gospel. They are of the world they speak of the world and the world gladly hears them. Jesus however gave warnings to those who fall under the subtle trap.  "Woe to you, when all men shall speak well of you!"

In the book of Luke 6:46-49 it says"and why do you call me, Lord, Lord and do not the things which I say? Whosoever comes to me and hears my sayings, and does them, I will show you to whom he is like he is like a man which built a house and Doug deep, and laid the foundation on the rock; and when the floods arose the stream beat vehemently upon the house and could not shake it; for it was founded upon the rock. But he that hears and does not, is like a man without a foundation built on a house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruling of that house was great". It becomes impossible for us to say the two words NO-LORD; and mean them both because one word on annulled the other. If you say no to God, then he is not your Lord. This world is beginning to be filled with more and more persecution against Christians who stand for Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. We have come to a point when we no longer can afford to preach a soft gospel that makes people feel good about themselves without also teaching them at the same time what the requirements are of being a follower of Christ. Today our lives and our witness for Christ is placed upon the front line for all of the world to see. We can no longer speak a message without also living it. May you richly bless God through your life in him.
