WORKS WITHOUT FAITH IS DEAD
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
We have all heard the definition of faith "faith is the substance of things hoped for, and the evidence of things unseen". There is a great difference in the ways we apply faith today. As an example; what is the concept of evolution based upon? It is based upon nothing whatever except faith, upon the belief in the ability of the unseen, believe in fossils that cannot be produced, believe in the logical experiments that refuse to come off, it is faith on justified by work. The problem is for most of us it is that same kind of faith that we are using to believe in God's word. I heard once that the tongue weighs practically nothing at all but even the mightiest of men find it impossible to hold it. When we allow the thought to penetrate us that we can have any kind of control over our destination for eternity it is easy for us to allow our natural tendency to fix her condition to take control.
Since most of us have trouble with real faith in God we tend to rely upon what we can do as people to fill the gap of righteousness with good works. There is a difference in belief and in faith in that we cannot have faith in God without first being completely convinced that God is who he says he is. The basic idea of living with God as the Lord of all things, and with Jesus Christ being the only way to our salvation offends most of the world. It is for that reason that most people are gravitating toward good works as a means of covering their lack of faith in Christ. Somehow we feel as though if we are seen by the world around us as good people, and are filled with good works then we cannot be rejected by God, and yet it is God's word then tells us that unless we have a relationship with him through Jesus Christ the good works will not matter. In Matthew 7:21-23 "not everyone that says to me, Lord Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that does the will of my father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord Lord, have we not prophesied in your name? And in your name have we not cast out devils? And in your name done many wonderful works? And then I will profess to them I never knew you. Depart from me, you that work iniquity." The problem actually lies first and what we put our belief in; do we believe the message that God has been sending us all the way through the Old Testament about the coming of the Messiah? If we do believe in God's word that tells us we need a relationship with the son of God in order to allow God's Holy Spirit to enter in to our lives and transform our mind and heart... Then where is our faith? We can do good works until the day we die, and still never touch upon the relationship with God.
Today the church is filled with falls converts who said among God's people and hear his words but they don't obey them. They build their house on sand rather than on the firm foundation of Jesus Christ and his words. A man named A.W. TOZER set "it is my opinion that tens of thousands of people, if not millions, have been brought into some kind of religious experience by accepting Christ, and they have not been saved". I have myself seen the results of many who claim Christ and yet do not bear the fruit of the Spirit in their lives hardly at all. In Matthew 13:15-17 Jesus explains to his disciples the reasons why he began to speak to the general public in parables. He told his disciples that the people's hearts were waxed cold in their ears are dull of hearing, they have closed their eyes because they did not want to see with their eyes are here with her ears or understand with their hearts, because they would be converted. Not much later in this chapter Jesus also spoke about the weeds and the tears which are both true and false converts sitting alongside each other until the time of harvest. There are probably more unsaved church people than we can even begin to imagine, and that is the reason that I am so focused on trying to awaken the bride of Christ within the church. We may not realize this but Jesus is not returning for the church, he is returning for his bride, and at that time the wheat will be separated from the tears. Let there be no doubt about it that works without faith is dead to God. May you richly bless God through your life in him.
