CHANGING WHO YOU THINK YOU ARE

Greetings in the name of Jesus:

For every Christian that attends a church on a weekly basis; we all know that God will lead us out of his since for love for us is a creation. The book of Jude :5-16 reminds us of something that we need to know in today's church. "Though you already all know this, I want to remind you that the Lord delivered his people out of Egypt, but later destroyed those who did not believe. And the Angels who did not keep their position of authority but abandon their own home, the his he has kept in darkness bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great day. In a Similar Way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire. In the very same way these dreamers pollute their own bodies, reject authority and slander celestial beings. But even the Archangel Michael when he was disputing with the devil about the body of Moses, did not dare to bring a slanderous accusation against him, but said, the Lord rebuke you! Yet these men speak abusively against whatever they do not understand; and what things they do understand by instinct, like unreasoning animals, they are the very things that destroyed them."

I want to stop there just for a moment to remind us that although God's intent is toward love, mercy, and forgiveness he is also just in his discernment of the truth of our heart when we worship. There are people today whom have been planted in the church by the enemy to continue to disrupt and confuse those who are susceptible to doubt and fear. Jesus has told us that he would not remove such people from our midst but allow them to grow to completion along with the good grain that has been planted in the church. There will be a time of harvest when we will all be gathered together, and then separated from those who are false in our midst. The word of God tells us that even many of the elect within the body of Christ will be fooled by some of these people, and it might well be a shock when the truth is known. In our quest to help you to discern the things that God has placed within you for the sake of his purpose at work in your very witness to Christ I want for you to be aware of the people around you, and who it is that you are giving your attention to in the word of God.

My question to you is simple; who is it that you are listening to today, and what word is it that is swaying your mind and heart in your obedience to God? In the passage of Scripture from Jude:5-7 the writer gives us three examples of rebellion. 1. The children of Israel, who although they were delivered from Egypt refused to trust God and to enter into the promised land.2. The Angels; and the fact that once they were pure, holy, and living in God's presence, some gave into the pride and join Satan to rebel against God. 3. The cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, the inhabitants were so full of sin that God wipe them off the face of the earth. Now if these chosen people, Angels, and sinful cities were punished how much more would these false teachers that we find among us be severely judged? There are many people that don't want to believe that God sentences people to eternal fire for rejecting him. But this is clearly taught in Scripture. Sinners who don't seek forgiveness from God will face eternal separation from. Jude gives us warning to all who rebel against God, ignored God, or reject God. We can take this much deeper than we have by bringing the attitudes and the intent of heart into the discussion of today's modern forms of worship. It isn't so much the way we go about doing things that matters to God, but it does deal with the attitudes and the intent of heart behind the things we do.

I want for you to think for a moment about what is going on in our churches today. There are a lot of incidents where people are outwardly scoffing and insulting the teachings of Christ is not really being a command from God, but more of an ideal to try to attain. Remember just as the men of Sodom insulted Angels these false teachers tend to insult any scriptural authority. Many of these teachers claimed that they possess secret knowledge that no one else has because of the supposed prayer life and to direct contact in spirit with God. Remember that in the book of Jude:10 these false teachers claimed that they possessed secret knowledge that gave them authority. Their knowledge of God was more mystical and beyond human understanding. The nature of God is beyond our understanding, but God, in his grace has chosen to reveal himself to us in his word. In particular God reveals himself to us through the person of Jesus Christ, and therefore we need to seek to know all we can about what Jesus has revealed to us even though we may not be able to fully comprehend God's mind and the heart with our human minds. We need to be aware and to discern through God's spirit all of those who claim to have all the answers and who belittle what they do not understand. I want to finish this thought out in the next blog, but for now may you richly bless God to your life in him.
