WHY WORRY?

Greetings in the name of Jesus:

One of the most important things that we can have in Christ is a vision from God about who he wants for us to become. In that vision God wants for us to be mature, loyal, trustworthy, and to have wisdom through the power of his Holy Spirit in dealing with the world around us.

We spoke in the blog before this about what we considered to be treasures in our heart; and those treasures becoming the very center of our life. If those treasures are centered around our relationship with God then we will find our lives are filled with light. What it is that we allow to influence us also become still light that we share with others around us. That is why Jesus said the eye is the lamp of the body. We will find it impossible to serve both God and anything or anyone else, even if that person is ourselves. If we can begin to understand that God only has our personal safety in mind when he uses such words as "TRUST ME" it is a likely we will begin to be able to understand what he is saying when he speaks to us in Matthew 6: 25-34 about worry over the things of this world.

I do not believe that God would have us go through life without any plan or preparation for what is to come, but I do believe that the more we allow ourselves to worry over everything the less effective we will be on a day to day basis in witnessing for Christ. There has to be a point in our Christian experience where we can show that God's word to us is true and trustworthy. What better way can we show our trust in God and in his word then to lay our worries for the future at the foot of the cross? Jesus tells us not to worry about life; and that means not to worry about what happens in a day like what we will eat or drink, or the close we will wear. I believe our society has put way too much emphasis on these very things. In fact barely a moment passes by us that we are not hit with some form of commercial about food or drink, or clothing. The image industry in our society has grown to the point that unless our children are wearing the latest in fashion, and eating the best brand name foods we are no longer considering ourselves a success in life. Once again we find a deception in all of this being laid at our doorstep's by the world around us. It is an effort to control what is in our eyes and minds what we consider treasures in this life. Once again we remember that the eye is the lamp of the body, and if our eyes are good our whole body is full of light. If the world can control what we see as being a treasure in this life it can also control the kind of light that we shine forth even if we claim Christ as our Lord. We must realize that the same God who created life in the can be trusted with the details of how you live your life. If we worry about life, and about the future it will hamper our efforts in living for today, worry is more harmful than it is helpful.

Somehow we must get to the point of understanding that God does not ignore those who depend on him, and that worry shows a lack of faith and understanding the heart of God. For all of us there are real challenges that God wants us to pursue, and worry keeps us from these things. It's the simple things like allowing our light to shine and reflect the love of God to other people. Living one day at a time will keep us from being consumed with worry, and Jesus knew that. We need to have a spiritual vision, and capacity to see clearly what God wants us to do and to see the world from his point of view. This spiritual insight can easily be clouded by the world around us, by self-serving desires, interests, and goals that block our spiritual vision. Serving God is the best way to restore it. A good eye is one that is fixed on God. Jesus tells us that we can have only one God, only one master and we live in such a materialistic society were many people are serving money, and stuff. That is the way of the world. What happens if after we have acquired it all and stored it all away; after we have torn down the old barns and build new ones to hold all of our goods, and then God requires our soul? What happens then my friends? May you ritually bless God through your life in him.
