WHAT BODY PART IS YOUR WORSHIP GROUP IN THE CHURCH?

Greetings in the name of Jesus:

It is far past time for us as Christians to understand the idea of what God has meant by the term church body, or body of Christ in this world. Once again our concept of the church is completely different than God's concept. In part the idea of the church in general being under the leadership one source fits the template that God has used. The problem is that we as men and women have tried to be the ones who were in the decision-making and leadership roles of the church, which is not what God intended.

God had originally intended for the Holy Spirit to be at the head of the church; leading and guiding us just as the spirit had guided and led Jesus Christ as a man on his journey through life and ministry. The problem is that we do not want to give up control. Once again we have to go back to
1 Corinthians 12: 12- 26 to find the answer that God wants to give to us. "The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ. For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free, and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. Now the body is not made up of one part but many. If the foot should say, I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body, it would not for that reason cease to be a part of the body. And if the ear should say, because I am not I I do not belong to the body, it would not for that reason cease to be a part of the body. If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear where would the sense of smell be? But in fact God has arranged the parts of the body,  every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. If they were all one part, where would the body be? As it is there are many parts, but one body. The I cannot say to the hand, I don't need you! And they head cannot say to the feet, I don't need you! On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be the weaker are indispensable, and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. In the parts that are on presentable are treated with special modesty, while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has combined the members of the body and has given greater honor to the parts that lacked it, so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers every part suffers with it if one part is honored every part rejoices with it".

The more I study God's word about the body of Christ, or the church that we think we know all about the more I realize how little we really do know. As I look upon the situation of the church in today's society I see a very weak and palsied church. I see a body who has absolutely no control over its members, and whose attempts to witness to the world around it are viewed at best as spastic, uncontrolled, lunacy.; Quite frankly if I was the world and I saw a body in that condition claiming to be sent of God, and someone who had the truth that I should follow I would tend to be very skeptical.

That does not mean that we do not have the truth, but it does mean that we are allowing ourselves to be led and governed by someone who should not be in charge. That someone is us. As we begin to look deeper into the true body of Christ we will begin to see many things that have corrupted and have caused disease to form in our body parts. These things have aided the enemy to make the church look ridiculous to the world who is seeking a true answer for salvation. I want to continue this discussion with you at least throughout the rest of this week. How do each of us as worship groups fit together to form the body of Christ? That and many other things need to be addressed today within our churches. Stay with me in prayer, and join me in our next discussion about the body of Christ. May you richly bless God through your life in him.
