BEING TIED TO A POINT OF LIGHT

I send greetings to you in the name of Jesus:

As I read the word of God I am coming more into an understanding that not everyone who hears or comes here to read these posts will be reached by the truth that God desires them to see. There is a confidence in what we do spiritually that can only come by having faith.

Hebrews 10: 19-24 gives us just a little bit of understanding about the kind of confidence that we need to be placing in our faith in Jesus Christ. It says"therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the most holy place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold unswervingly to the whole we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds."

It becomes this kind of faith; not in our ability to believe, but faith placed in the Holy Spirit and in the Temple with in us that God has created. The most holy place in the Temple was sealed from BU by a curtain. Only the high priest could enter this holy room, and he did so only once a year on the day of atonement when he offered the sacrifices for the nations sins. But Jesus's death removed the curtain, and all believers may walk into God's presence at any time. The place that mankind has put God has been a physical sanctuary so that the relationship they have with God might be controlled. The new covenant that God has said with us is one where we as an individual are becoming a part of the sanctuary of God. We each one become a piece of the building that is being built through the power of God's Spirit in love, faith, and hope as we profess the faithfulness of God's spirit within us.

When I think of this sanctuary that God is creating I automatically think about the reflecting properties of light. I think of each Christian individual as being a different point of light shining within a very dark world. Even with that the points of light the world sees through us is only a glimmer of reflection based upon the light of Christ that shines through us to them. Even though each of us has that reflecting power of God flowing through us we are still very weak in sending light into this world. Just as it tells us in Hebrews 10: 25 "and let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds lead us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching." We cannot afford to separate ourselves from one another in this world, for if we do our glimmer of light that reflects God's eternal flame will not be strong enough. The enemy can mimic white reflection too, and that reflection continues to lead many people to walk toward paths of destruction spiritually.

The light that we reflect must be able to be tested by those who see it, and they must be able to find the truth that is behind the light that we reflect. Many times then cannot be done without someone seeing the same light reflecting through the lives of many people in the same way. We confirm the truth that is in each one of us through the power of God's witness within us. It becomes our faith and the confidence that we have put into our faith in Christ that becomes that constant light that this world so badly needs to see. Hebrews 11: 1 gives us a definition of faith by saying "now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see". In many ways we may feel alone in our witness of what Christ has done for our lives, but the word tells us the down through history there have been a mighty cloud of witnesses along with us that we are surrounded by that gives us the ability to throw off everything that hinders us through this sin of this world that so easily engulfs us and entangles us, and that faith allows us to combine these reflective points of light and run with perseverance a race and a course that is marked out for us. As a church we must fix our eyes on Jesus who is the author and finisher of that faith that we collectively hold in Christ. This is our purpose and this is our directive as witnesses. The Christian life involves hard work, and it requires us to give up whatever endangers our relationship with God. This is a real and great struggle for all of us that must be endured if we are going to make any change in the circumstances of the world around us. May you richly bless God through your life in the him.
