GIVING AWAY THE BEST THAT WE HAVE

Greetings in the name of Jesus:

One of the things that I have realized during my time as a teacher, and a leader in the Christian community is that we as individuals become very much responsible for the atmosphere of the unity of Christ's spirit all around us. I have found that in my years of service to Christ that I can only make progress in my personal relationship with Christ by giving the best of what I am and who I can be to the process of God changing me; even the best of who I think I am into a new creature that is pure enough to fit into God's family, and into God's kingdom.

I have found that at the beginning of my Christian experience it was easy for me to find things to give to God that did not cost me anything personally. These were bits and pieces of my life that I realized that the time that need to be changed. Some of these things my heart was already convicted enough of to give to God without there being a battle of will with myself on the inside. These were surface issues that ended up being more like the clutter that we find in life. It's like living in a home that is strewn with the various things that we use in life, like pairs of socks and shoes which are temporarily tossed around without being put away. These bits and pieces of things can be tidied up fairly quickly, and yet God does not just simply ask us to clean up our room, but to change our life.

Just below the surface of the life we live lurks points of view, and attitudes that we have developed through our experiences with life. These things are a little harder for us to reach down and pluck out, and because of that we may need to help through prayer or consultation with others in Christ. The one thing I do know is that God never stop requesting that we dig deeper within ourselves to find out what we are really made of. For most of us when we start our journey with Christ we don't have a clue as to who we will end up being when God is finished with us. Guns spirit is trying to get us to see who we were created to be in the first place. That means however, that we must go through a series of transformations that changes our mind about what we see, and what we do in life. The experiences that we have with God will always lead to our transformation as a person. Our mind and our heart are the key elements of God's interest. The true battle of powers and principalities in the heavenly places is seen in the attempt to control our perspective of life. In the end we are probably the ones who are the least aware of that raging battle of any one. We become like the shellshocked soldier standing on an open field battle and unable to respond to the dangers all around us. We must rely upon the protection and the help of someone who cares about our safety and our life.

As we grow in Christ's spirit we are going to be required to dig still deeper within ourselves to find pieces of we are presently that need to be changed. These pieces that we find within our lives will no doubt surprises us, and in many cases this alone will start to change our way of thinking and feeling. The most important thing for us to remember is that as we give these pieces of who we are to God he has promised not only to transform them but to return them, and thus piece by piece we are being changed out of God's love for us. I want to discuss with you in this next blog some of what happens as we find and give pieces of who we are to God to be changed. May you richly bless God through your life in him.
