The starting of a new direction

Greetings in the name of Jesus:

It seems like some of the best made plans and directions that we have as men and women get changed midstream by the world around us. My goals and my visions in Christ have not changed, and yet I find myself in the midst of change in my place of worship. This is merely a change in our attendance on Sundays, and not a change of our heart to ward those whom we have observed with and loved for the last six years.

I still feel just as I always have that the church as it has been established by Christ has a particular purpose and structure that it needs to follow in order to be effective within the community it serves. Each one of us have our own calling within life; mine has changed over the years from a great desire to share the gifts that God is given me in music, art, and communication. As I have gotten older some of these things have been taken away, and some have been laid aside so that I might concentrate on bringing a particular message to you from God's Spirit. I feel at times as though I am a voice is crying in the wilderness for us to prepare our hearts for what I see coming.

Today we have a great need for a church leadership that understands the basic principles of what the church has been established to be. The church is a place of family spiritually that nurtures the growth and transformation of new Christians to grow to the point that they can begin to seek their own path toward ministry in Christ. It is the churches responsibility to develop and provide the environment and the spiritual protection that is needed for Christians to grow up and become mature in their hearts and minds. We must be able to understand God's mind in the development of what true family should be. God's structure of family places him in that patriarchal center position with the men of God as examples for the church to follow of what it means to live the Christian life. As in any family structure there are variances to that role of being an example of Christ, and in our society many times that role of leadership gets reversed, and sometimes in the strangest ways where one or the other of father or mother figures take leadership in this way. We even find that the roles of leadership and example within our families today get reversed where the father becomes as the son, and the daughter becomes as the mother spiritually. While our social structures are being broken down around us the need for an absolute truth within our church vision and makeup becomes more important than it ever has. As we start this week out I pray that we can focus upon that absolute truth and reality from God about what the church should be today. Christmas for this year is only about two weeks away, so we need to focus on what our purpose is as individuals in Christ.

What does our hearts tell us that all were role is within the family of God? Who do we consider ourselves to be? It really doesn't matter what our position is socially or physically in life, but it does matter what God has called us to be as members of the church. Not all of us are called to be a part of the leadership, but we are also not all called to simply sit in church on Sunday and take in God's word without also giving out what we have learned to those whom God has given to us to be examples to in life. Our experience in Christ begins with our own life being changed from an old way of thinking and behaving to a new vision that not only gives our own heart peace, but that spreads peace and love, truth and reality to the circles of influence we have all around us every day. As we begin this week I pray that we would be aware of what God has placed within our hearts; and about who we are called to be in Christ. May you richly bless God through your life in him.
