STOP...LOOK...AND LISTEN
Greetings in Jesus our Lord:
Matthew 24:,Mark 13:1-23, Luke 21:5-24 all have the accounts of Jesus speaking about the future. In these accounts God tells us to really stop, look , and listen to what is going on before us.
God has been trying to tell us to watch out because all of these things we have been clinging to will disappear. Jesus in just the chapter before Matthew 23: pointed out seven woes to the teachers and the leaders of His time that continues to echo down to us today, and yet His main message to us was to not be fooled by what is going on around us.
The world around us is not our friend any more than the drug dealers on the street are just innocent lost kids, or the hooker on the street is always a runaway girl who cannot get out. The sin is real and so is the danger to us. That is why it is so very important that we have a place to find real truth. Frankly that is why this blog has been created...it is so that you will have a place to go to find the truth, and sometimes it will be popular and at other times not so much. The truth will never change, and the fact that I will always point you to Jesus Christ for the answers will also never change. I want for us to take a moment to see what God is trying to tell us.
STOP: We have to stop going down a pathway that includes the world and what this world offers us (free of charge) to use in drawing seekers into our churches. First of all we are doing nothing more than creating a club atmosphere for people to join that in no way really challenges them to grow Spiritually. Secondly that lack of spiritual growth translates to a worldly attitude about dealing with others that can only be handled in a business like approach instead of a family environment like the one the church was created for.
LOOK: There are so many different styles of worship out there today that it makes your head swim. Who is right, and who is wrong? we all are to a degree, and so with that in mind all we should try to do is to bring it back as closely to the teachings of Christ as we can. We must look around us to find the truth...God tells us to seek after Him with our whole mind, heart, and soul. If we will stop and then look we see so much more and can focus so much better than when we are on the move. We need to look at the quality of the teaching we are getting, and the sources that we are going to to find the truth because this world has no truth. There are a great number of ministries who have lowered their standards as far as making people aware of the truth for their personal lives. We cannot afford to talk in general circles any longer around the topics of love and decision making when it comes to our faith. Belief, Love , and commitment are all action based words...they are progressive and ever changing things within our lives that need constant awareness.
LISTEN: We have lost the ability to hear God's voice as He continues to speak to us. I know many people who are doing God's will out of some kind of lost obedience, but they do not realize that it was God speaking to their heart to direct them to do or say what they have. Many of us have grown to think that those things are simply coming from within us alone...but they are not. It is probably more important than anything else for us to meditate on His word to us; letting Him speak His mind into our hearts. If you have not taken the time lately to listen to God's voice you can do that by simply getting alone with God and His word for a while. There may be quite a few things for you to catch up on when you start, but once you clear some of the trash that has been blocking you from time with God you will begin to hear Him speak to you...listen to Him.
We are going to be dealing with a lot of Parables from Jesus this year, and I hope that you will not hesitate to join me as we find out more about God's plan for our lives. May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
